Did you know that in the course of a conversation your brain is constantly making assumptions – hundreds of them? Each word, gesture, inflection, and tone of voice is interpreted, but not always as intended. Our general interpretation of the meaning behind the words is a compilation of what our experiences with those words have been. Considering this there are two big ideas that stand out to me. One – our brains are incredible processors, and, two – things aren’t always what they seem.
I make it a point to keep this in mind when meeting new people. I especially tune in to this ideology when I come across someone distraught or overwhelmed. And I always keep this in mind when discussing a project application with our customers. Industry specific words and phrases can mean different things depending where you are in the business.
We’re very dialed-in to this in the engineering department at EXAIR. With a variety of backgrounds and educational disciplines we’re like the Voltron of compressed air.
