Gen4 Ion Air Cannons

Ion Air Cannon

As the weather gets colder, and the air gets dryer, static electricity can become a real nuisance in a production plant.  Machines will start jamming, alignments will be difficult, debris will collect on surfaces, and hazardous sparks can shock staff.  EXAIR manufactures a large line of Gen4 Static Eliminators to remove this static nuisance.  Beginning January 1st, 2023, EXAIR will be giving away a free AC Sensor, a $76.00 value, as a promotion with a qualified purchase of the Gen4 Static Eliminators.  In this blog, I will cover the Gen4 Ion Air Cannons.

Just like the name, this product will shower an area with ions to remove any type of static. It can reach distances up to 15 feet (4.6 meters).  They are used in multiple areas, including pre-paint car bodies, containers, shrink wrapping, lenses, etc.  Like the Air Amplifier, a small amount of compressed air will draw in a large amount of ambient air.  The ions are then carried to the surface by the Gen4 Ion Air Cannon in a laminar air stream.   Once the ions coat the target area, the air flow can gently remove any debris held by static forces.

EXAIR offers different packages to make it easy to order and to install.  The model 8192 is the Gen4 Ion Air Cannon.  To make it operational, a model 7960 Gen4 Power Supply is required.  So, we have a model 8292 which will include both items together.  The model 7960 is the Gen 4 Power Supply which has two outlets to operate multiple units at one time.

Model 8492 Kit

The model 8492 is the Gen4 Ion Air Cannon Kit, which will include the Ion Air Cannon, a Power Supply, a filter, a regulator, and a Shim Set.  The filter removes the debris and water from the compressed air line to optimize performance as well as keep your product clean.  The regulator is used to make the “fine” adjustment to the blowing force, while the shim set is used as the “coarse” adjustment.  The adjustment can go from a “breeze” to a “blast”.

Model 8492DX

The model 8492DX is our Deluxe Kit which includes an Electronic Flow Control to the kit above.  The Electronic Flow Control, or EFC, is a miniature PLC unit with eight different timing operations.  I created an informal video that shows each operation and how the timing cycle works.  You can find it HERE.  It uses a photoelectric sensor to detect the product and trigger the timing sequence to only blow when required.  The Deluxe Kit is our most optimal package for compressed air savings.

Being that the drier months are approaching; you may want to evaluate some of your processes.  If you are working with non-conductive materials like plastic, paper, rubber, textile; EXAIR has a variety of Gen4 Static Eliminators that can remove the static nuisance.  This will help your company with increased production rates, clean surfaces, and protection from personnel shock.  This Gen4 Ion Air Cannon is only one of a multitude of Static Eliminators that we manufacture to move ions to neutralize a surface.  If you would like to discuss your application and potential static issues, you can contact an Application Engineer at EXAIR.  We will be happy to help.
