From Damp To Soaked, Wide to Skinny, We Can Cover It

Here at EXAIR our roots are planted firmly in efficient use of compressed air, a costly utility that is widely used within industry. We have continually expanded these offerings and, a little over a decade ago, we even branched out to include liquid spraying nozzles.

142 distinct models. 8 different patterns. Liquid flow rates from 0.1 to 303 gallons per hour. If you’ve got a spraying application, EXAIR has an Atomizing Nozzle for you!

As it sits today, we offer multiple families and sizes of both Air Atomizing Spray Nozzles and Liquid Atomizing Spray Nozzles.

Just like drying, or cooling with compressed air, when it comes to getting something wet, we have expanded that product offering pretty continuously over the past decade and will continue to do so. The benefit to you, our content consumer / customer, is that we have the ability to outfit your application with a wide variety of spray patterns and capacities to meet the need. Best of all, these are all in stock, meaning they ship on the same day for orders received by 2 PM ET that are shipping within the US.

We currently offer 44 different types of Air Atomizing Spray Nozzles ranging from 1/8″ NPT Internal Mix Narrow Angle Round Pattern up to 1/2″ Hollow Cone 360° nozzles. This means you can go from the amount needed to lubricate a drill bit during a peck drilling operation up to the amount needed to simulate a rainstorm in a 13′ diameter area. That’s only the models that still require a source of industrial compressed air.

On top of those, we offer the Liquid Atomizing Nozzles, which only require a source of pressurized liquid and which are currently available in 8 different styles, ranging from 1/4″ OmniStream to 1/2″ NPT HollowStream Atomizing nozzles. These nozzles carry variability in spray by simply increasing or decreasing the liquid pressure going into the nozzle. With the single inlet that is perpendicular to the spray discharge, it is easy to fit into tight spaces and still cover a variety of sizes.

If you want to narrow down which of these hundreds of models your application may need, don’t hesitate to call in and speak to an actual human when you do. Our team of Application Engineers are at the ready, Monday through Friday 0700-1600 ET.

Big Dust Problem, Small Spray Nozzle Solution

A company that provides contamination control solutions to the mining industry needed to suppress dust from mined ore on a conveyor belt. Inexpensive spray nozzles supplied from the plant’s water system suppressed the dust, but resulted in a fair amount of runoff. This wasn’t an issue in a lot of their applications, but environmental regulations called for containment of the runoff from this particular material, so it was critical to minimize that runoff.

The conveyor belt was six feet (1.8 meters) wide and was relatively slow moving, so I specified two Model AF8020SS 1/8 NPT Internal Mix Flat Fan Pattern Air Atomizing Spray Nozzles, each capable of spraying up to 4.27 gallons per hour of water over a 47″ width at a distance of 15″ from the surface. This allowed for flexibility in mounting, and some overlapping spray in the middle, where dust suppression was needed most – and any excess spray would be contained in the bulk of the material.

Internal Mix Atomizing Spray Nozzles are the perfect choice for fine mist and precise control, which is critical for dust suppression applications.

At first, they were skeptical about the size of the 1/8 NPT Air Atomizing Spray Nozzle. The liquid nozzle they were using was “about as large as a baseball” and was supplied with a 1/2″ pipe. Once installed, though, they were impressed with the fine mist in the broad, thin pattern that was easily – and widely – controllable by regulating the air & liquid supply pressures.

From Round Patterns (left), to Flat Fan Patterns (middle), to Hollow Circular Patterns (right), EXAIR has Spray Nozzles to suit your liquid spraying needs.

EXAIR Air Atomizing Spray Nozzles are THE ideal solution when you need low flow rates – whether it’s for conservation of expensive liquids, eliminating drips or runs when applying coatings, or preventing runoff like in this application. If you want to find out how EXAIR can help you get the most out of the liquid you’re spraying – and your compressed air usage – give me a call.

Compressed Air Use in Construction

When you are driving by a construction site you will typically see things like the photo below! This is a 185 SCFM diesel air compressor. Just like in the manufacturing industry, there are jobs that require the use of compressed air. But when your site changes every so often, you can’t build a full compressor room. That’s where this kind of compressor comes into play. They can be pulled behind a standard truck, and depending on the size, can supply a large amount of compressed air.

On our website we have an amazing tool we refer to as the Application Database! This is a library of applications that are sorted by industry and application! All you have to do is create an account on EXAIR.com and BAM you have access!

Now, let’s look at a few applications in the Construction sector!

The first customer used our line of Air operated Conveyors!

A customer was installing a border fence for the US Department of Homeland Security. They cannot use a posthole digger because they are in sand and the hole collapses. So they hammer drill the posts in. Then they need to remove the sand from the interior of the pipe, so they can fill it with concrete. This is to prevent intruders from sawing off the post. The Model 150200 2″ (51mm) Heavy Duty Line Vac easily removed the sand and small rocks. Being made of hardened alloy steel, it held up to the abrasion of the sand and rock.

Super Air knives are used in the manufacture of one of the most used, wood material in home construction!

A company manufactures Oriented Strand Board (OSB). They were having a housekeeping issue at various places within their OSB press. They were only able to run 10-15 minutes at a time before they would have to clear material from the press to keep from damaging the finish on the product yet to be pressed. They purchased a Super Air Knife to blow off the press area to keep debris from piling up and affecting the finish.

Maintaining A Consistent Appearance On Oriented Strand Board

These are just a few of many applications we hear and work with every day! While we have a good number of applications on the site, we have even more in our heads. So if you don’t see anything on the site that matches what you are looking for, give us a call. We have a team of Application Engineers ready to discuss your application specifically and determine how our products can best help you be more efficient in your processes!

EXAIR’s HollowStream Liquid Atomizing Spray Nozzles get a new Size!

When it comes to liquid spraying, EXAIR is introducing a new size to the line of all liquid nozzles.  They are engineered to spin the liquid in order to break the surface tension.  Passing through a precision orifice, the liquid will break into fine particles.  The smaller the particle size, the greater the surface area, which reduces liquid use.  Now we are adding the brand new 1/8″ NPT HollowStream Nozzle to our product offering!

The HollowStream™ Cone Liquid Nozzles produce a liquid ring on the target. This will reduce liquid use when compared to our OmniStream™ Cone Liquid Nozzles.  They are available in NPT and BSP female threads in the new 1/8, ¼, 3/8, and 1/2 sizes with varying liquid flow rates. They are all made of 303 stainless steel with a vane-less design to help resist clogging.  They can handle 250 PSIG (17.2 barg) of liquid pressure and operate at temperatures up to 800oF (427oC).  Some applications would include cooling, quenching, washing, foam breaking, sanitizing, and de-greasing.

With six different styles that range from 0.1 to 1.0 GPM, it adds even more flexibility to our Liquid-only spray nozzles! You can see the new body dimensions below and the flow rates at 3-60 PSI of liquid pressure under the Specifications here! https://www.exair.com/phl80x5ss.html

If you have a process where you need to reduce the amount of liquid to save money, EXAIR offers a line of Liquid Atomizing Nozzles as well as Air Atomizing Nozzles.  The design is to reduce the droplet size to increase coverage.  Here is a blog with the Air Atomizing Nozzles for improving Gummy Candy Production.  In either case, if you have questions regarding how we can reduce costs and improve processes, you can contact an Application Engineer.  We will be happy to help you.
