Compressed Air Use in the Agriculture Industry

The history of agriculture is really the history of civilization. Once our ancestors moved from hunting & gathering to herding & planting, the concepts of villages and trade took off, and here we are, living in the suburbs, exchanging currency for goods at the local supermarket. The methods in which these goods (the food we eat) are processed have evolved from everything being done by hand, to the use of an impressive degree of modern technology. Some of that technology involves compressed air – hence the subject of this blog. Consider:

  • Gasoline or diesel driven air compressors can power tools and pumps in areas where electricity isn’t available.
  • Fertilizers and pesticides are oftentimes sprayed onto crops using products like EXAIR Air Atomizing Spray Nozzles, which generate an even, controllable spray pattern & flow rate, while making extremely small droplet sizes for maximum coverage.
  • Air Operated Conveyors like EXAIR Line Vacs are widely used to move grain, soil, fertilizer, etc., quickly & easily from storage bins or hoppers.
As a coffee lover, there’s not much I enjoy more than specifying a Line Vac for use with coffee, like the one above being used to convey green coffee beans. They’re used for roasted and ground beans too!
  • Blowoff products like EXAIR Super Air Knives are ideal for cleaning and drying produce carried on conveyor belts.

I had the pleasure of assisting a caller with the selection of a wet-dry vacuum for cleanup operations on a dairy farm. Since it was going to be used in an area subject to liquid spills, they wanted a non-electric solution to eliminate shock hazards from dragging an extension cord across a wet floor. They needed a HEPA filter for silica dust, and wanted the ability to quickly change operation from vacuuming up that dust, to cleaning up liquid (like fresh milk) spills.

EXAIR Model 6303 Premium HEPA EasySwitch Wet-Dry Vac System fit the bill perfectly for them. It’s compressed air operated (so no shock hazard), with more than enough vacuum power for wet or dry cleanup, and the ability to easily switch (as advertised) from wet to dry operation. Also, with no moving parts to wear out, it’ll run darn near indefinitely, maintenance free, when supplied with clean compressed air.

For critical dust containment, the HEPA EasySwitch Wet-Dry Vac System is your durable, reliable, compressed air operated solution!

Compressed Air Use in the Medical Industry

EXAIR uses many different methods to connect with our customers.  We have our website, social media, blogs, publications etc. We like to share solutions to some of the most common pneumatic problems in industry.  EXAIR generates a large collection of application information where EXAIR products have already solved problems and improved processes. We organized them by Application and by Industry.  In this blog, I will show you how to use our Application database; specifically, for the Medical Industry.

Compressed Air Systems are considered to be a fourth utility within industries because they use a large amount of energy.  Whether an air compressor that uses fuel for portable units or that uses electricity, it is important to use this system as efficiently as possible.  This would also apply to the automotive industry.  EXAIR has a library of different processes in which we have already improved these areas safely and efficiently.  If you are part of the automotive industry, it could benefit you to take a peek at the areas that we have already improved, established OSHA compliant safety measures, and saved money.

Here is how you can find this library.  First, log into EXAIR.com.  Click here: Log In.  Once you fill in the proper information, you can then retrieve tremendous amounts of resources about EXAIR products.   The Application database is under the Resources tab.  (Reference photo below).

EXAIR Application Data Base

Within the Application Search Library, we have over one thousand applications referenced.  In the left selection pane, we organized them in alphabetical order under two categories: Application and Industry.

Scroll down in the selection pane until you come to the sub-category: Industry.  Under this Sub-category, you will find three selections that are related to this blog: Medical, Health and Beauty, and Healthcare.  We have other applications as well that may relate to your specific processes if you scroll up and down the list. You will find many product applications that have already improved processes and solved problems.

Why is this important?  If you are a plant manager or owner, the value of the Application Database can improve your current processes with pre-qualified results.  Within the automotive industry, simple solutions can be found to address those “nagging” issues that you see every day.  For crisis situations and shutdowns, EXAIR categorized these applications in a way to reference quickly and easily.  And since EXAIR has a high volume of stocked items, we can get the parts to you very fast, so you can quickly be on your way to a solution.

In today’s market, companies are always looking for ways to cut cost, increase productivity, and improve safety.  EXAIR offers engineered products to do exactly that.  With the “been there and done that” solutions already described in the Application Database, you can have confidence in finding a way of solving pneumatic issues.  If you do not sign up at www.EXAIR.com and take advantage of these offerings, you will be missing out on a great tool to optimize your compressed air system.

Application Database: Aerospace.

EXAIR uses many different methods to connect with our customers.  We have our website, social media, blogs, publications, etc.  We like to share solutions for some of the most common pneumatic problems in the industry.  EXAIR generated a large collection of application information where EXAIR products have solved problems and improved processes, and we placed them in a database.  We organized them by Application and by Industry.  In this blog, I will share an application within the Aerospace industry and how you can find it as well.

The aerospace industry needed help cleaning the wings on an airplane after washing.  The use of rags and squeegees was time-consuming and could scratch the surface of the wing.  They were looking for a non-contact way to clean the surface quickly and efficiently.  They contacted EXAIR, as we are the leaders in this industry.  To reach across the surface, I recommended the model 110272PKI 72” Aluminum Super Air Knife Kit with a Plumbing Kit installed.  The plumbing kit makes it easy to properly install compressed air to this long air knife.  The kit adds a filter, regulator, and a shim set to help control the force of the Super Air Knife to optimize blow-off.  This company was able to mount this to a rodless cylinder to move the Super Air Knife along the entire length of the wing.  Drying and cleaning the surface without touching the exterior, making it a great way to get the wings to the next step in the process.

EXAIR offers many solutions for many types of industries by reducing costs and improving processes.  EXAIR has these solutions in a library on our website.  If you are part of the Aerospace industry, it can be beneficial for you.  It is a “been there, done that” solution that you can take advantage of.

Here is how you can find this library.  First, you will have to sign in to the EXAIR website.  Click HERE to log in.  Once you fill in the proper information, you can then retrieve a great number of resources about the EXAIR products that we manufacture.   The Application database is located under the Resources drop-down tab (reference photo below) and at Applications.

At the Application Search Library, we have over one thousand applications that we reference.  In the left selection pane, we organized them under two categories: Application and Industry.

Scroll down in the Industry selection pane until you come to the sub-category: Aerospace.  If you do not find it, you can select the Expand button to open up more categories.  We have other applications as well that may relate to your specific process if you scroll up and down the list, like Automotive and Aviation, as examples.

If you do not sign up at http://www.EXAIR.com and take advantage of these offerings, you will be missing out on a great tool to optimize your compressed air system.  And for the customer above, they were able to meet their requirements as well as the deadline that they had.  If you cannot find a solution, an Application Engineer at EXAIR is available to help you.
