INDIANA: Energy Rebates and EXAIR Save You Money On Top of Compressed Air Savings

The energy rebates described below are available throughout the country, not just Indiana – but here is the latest example.

Here in Cincinnati we border two states, our bypass loop actually goes through both of them, Kentucky and Indiana. Indiana is a state that most may fly over or if you are going anywhere it may be to go to Indianapolis, myself, I have a few ties to the state elsewhere, from racing motorcycles at Putnam Park west of Indy, my niece attending the prestigious Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, to my previous career where I installed CNC machines in various parts of the state. While many may think the state is a giant wind power farm, there is a great deal of industry and manufacturing throughout the state including pharmaceutical and medical devices, mining, and transportation. The leading energy provider for the state, Duke Energy, also supports these manufacturers with programs to incentivize (through rebates) products which increase efficiency.

We’ve mentioned energy rebates previously and I have recently had the chance to help a customer with their energy rebate. More often than not, these rebates are an after thought, I hope that after reading this we can help you to check with your local service provider to see if they offer a similar process – they are available throughout the country from MANY electricity providers. The process for this customer was based off purchasing a single Soft Grip Safety Air Gun with Stainless Steel Mini Super Air Nozzle. The rebate was focused on the engineered air nozzle. For a 1/8″ NPT nozzle, it must consume 10 SCFM or less at 80 psig inlet pressure. For a 1/4″ NPT nozzle, they have to consume 17 SCFM or less at 80 psig. The fact the nozzle was assembled onto a Soft Grip Safety Air Gun enabled the customer to apply for a rebate for the full cost of the whole air gun.

EXAIR Model 1299SS – Soft Grip Safety Air Gun w/ Stainless Steel Mini Super Air Nozzle

The value of the rebate for Indiana where Duke is the energy supplier is $40.00 USD per engineered nozzle installed. The rebate is capped at 75 percent of the project cost in Indiana. The current cost of the 1299SS is $134.00, which enables this customer to the full $40.00 for each Safety Air Gun with Mini Super Air Nozzle they install. This is one of the simplest prescriptive rebates in the Duke Energy program. The main focus here is to conserve compressed air which ultimately puts more energy available to the rest of the grid. The engineered nozzle prescriptive rebate is just one way that Duke Energy customers in the state of Indiana can save.

If you are in the state of Indiana (OR ANYWHERE ELSE IN THE USA) and would like to discuss whether the Safety Air Guns or any point of use compressed air application in your facility can be improved, contact an Application Engineer. The truth is we all love saving a customer their resources, whether it be compressed air, electricity, liquid, or good old-fashioned cash.

EXAIR Super Blast Safety Air Guns for Maximum Power

EXAIR offers 5 different styles of Safety Air Guns with a large variety of Safety Air Nozzles; VariBlast Precision, VariBlast Compact, Soft Grip, Heavy Duty and Super Blast.  They range from small precise blowing up to large surface cleaning.   First, the EXAIR Safety Air Guns are designed to meet OSHA standards for dead-end pressure and noise level.  Second, the engineered nozzles improve efficiency of compressed air use; saving you money.  In this blog, I will cover our largest air guns; the Super Blast Safety Air Guns.

The Super Blast Safety Air Guns are ideal for wide area blow-offs and far distances. They feature a comfortable foam grip and an auto shut-off trigger.  The trigger valve has a spring that will turn off the airflow if the gun is dropped, to prevent backlash or the hose flailing around dangerously. Aluminum extensions are available in 36″ (0.9 meters) or 72″ (1.83 meters) lengths for hard-to-reach areas.  These units use our larger Super Air Nozzles and Super Air Nozzle Clusters, providing forces levels from 3.2 lbs. (1.45 Kg) up to 23 lbs. (10.43 Kg).  Depending on which nozzle is fitted on the assembly, air inlets can range from 3/8 FNPT up to 1-1/4 FNPT.

EXAIR offers two styles of nozzles in the Super Blast family; a Super Air Nozzle Cluster and a single Super Air Nozzle.  Both are designed to entrain ambient air at a ratio near 25:1.  That means for every 1 part of compressed air, the nozzle will bring in 25 parts of free ambient air.  This will reduce the amount of compressed air required.  The ambient air will add mass to give it a hard-hitting force.  The Super Air Nozzle Cluster has an aluminum body with multiple Zinc-Aluminum Safety Air Nozzles nested.  We offer a cluster with 4 nozzles, 7 nozzles, and 12 nozzles.  The air pattern is wide to help remove debris quickly.  The air blow guns with a single Super Air Nozzle are great for a more focused force at longer distances.  EXAIR offers five different nozzle sizes to create the largest force within our Safety Air Guns at 23 lbs. (10.43Kg) at 80 PSIG (5.5 bar).  Some applications would include cleaning large CNC tables, dump trucks, walls, ceilings, and sheets of materials.

For U.S. and Canadian customers, EXAIR will be giving away a 1” Flat Super Air Nozzle with a purchase of a VariBlast Precision, VariBlast Compact, Soft Grip, Heavy Duty, and Super Blast Safety Air Gun.  EXAIR will send a model 1126 nozzle, a $50.00 complimentary gift, with a qualified purchase online until September 30th, 2021.  EXAIR also offers a 30-day unconditional guarantee on our cataloged items to try.  You can see for yourself on how effective these compressed air guns can be.  If you need help to match the best Safety Air Gun to your application, an Application Engineer will be happy to assist you.

EXAIR’s Heavy Duty Safety Air Guns Provide Powerful Blowing Force

EXAIR’s Heavy Duty Safety Air Gun is designed to provide powerful blasts of compressed air for use in rugged, industrial environments. With a larger 3/8 NPT air inlet compared to our other Safety Air Guns, it allows for higher force and flow values. It comes with a durable cast aluminum body and ergonomic composite rubber grip. The wide curved trigger allows for continuous use for hours without operator’s experiencing fatigue.

Model 1330SS-6-CS

All of EXAIR’s Safety Air Guns come with an engineered compressed air nozzle at the tip. This allows you to remain OSHA compliant while still getting the force you need to get the job done. EXAIR’s Super Air Nozzles utilize the coanda effect to entrain large amounts of ambient air from the environment. This ambient air mixes with the primary airstream and is projected towards the target with more force and flow than the supplied compressed air could deliver alone.

Each of the Safety Air Guns is available with extensions fully assembled ranging from 6”-72”. You can simply add a “-“ and the required length, in inches, to the end of any Safety Air Gun Model number.

In addition, they’re also available with a Chip Shield to prevent any chips or debris from coming back into the faces of your operators. Effective chip guarding is another component of OSHA 1910.242(b) in addition to the concerns of dead-end pressure. To add a Chip Shield onto the gun as well, a “-CS” to the standard Model number. For example, a Model 1310-12-CS would be a 1310 gun with 12” extension and a Chip Shield installed. If the application involves blowing off metal chips or shavings, your operators will certainly appreciate this Chip Shield preventing the debris from blowing back all over them.

EXAIR’s New VariBlast Precision Safety Air Gun provides a strong, focused blast of air ideal for use in a wide variety of blowoff applications and processes. This CE compliant, lightweight gun utilizes an engineered variable flow trigger that is capable of producing variable force upon the target by simply pulling the trigger. The comfortable, full finger trigger and convenient hanger loop are built-in to the ¼ NPT Safety Air Gun.

Utilizing our range of small Super Air Nozzles (available in both type 316 SS and PEEK plastic for non-marring applications), this gun has the ability to fit into tight spaces while still delivering a strong blowing force. The VariBlast Precision Safety Air Gun is available with an optional 12” or 20” extension (3” extension installed on base model guns) that can also be outfitted with an impact resistant polycarbonate Chip Shield. The air gun body itself is constructed of a high impact polyacetal material for durable use over many years.

All available models of the VariBlast Precision Safety Air Gun come outfitted with an engineered nozzle that cannot be dead-ended, assuring safe usage for your operators and meeting the required standards put forth by OSHA under 29 CFR 1910.242(b). With sound levels as low as 58 dBA with the Model 1808SS, these guns are also well below the allowable limits of noise exposure discussed by OSHA in 29 CFR 1910.95(a).

Inexpensive air guns are commonly seen in a variety of catalogs and industrial supply companies. Most contain triggers or other components are constantly need replaced. Additionally, their performance is similar to that of an open pipe or tube and can be extremely wasteful, not to mention a potential OSHA violation.
