Flying Debris? – Chip Shields are durable polycarbonate shields that protect the operator from risk of flying debris often seen when blowing off chips from machined parts. They are also useful to prevent coolant from splashing back, creating a mess during drying processes.

The Chip Shields are available for EXAIR’s VariBlast, Soft Grip and Heavy Duty Safety Air Guns. The Chip Shield can be used on Safety Air Guns with or without an aluminum extension. They may be purchased as part of a new air gun system, or retrofitted as a Chip Shield Kit.  Consult an Application Engineer for selection assistance.

If you have a blow-off process where the air is to be directed at a distance away from the operator, or into a hard-to-reach location, an extension is the solution. Available in lengths from 6″ (152mm) to 72″ (1829mm), with sizes as to meet most requirement can be found. To add an extension to an air gun, simply add -xx to the current part number. EXAIR’s Stay Set Hoses are available from 6”-36” in lengths with ¼ NPT male threads on each end, or a ¼ NPT male on one end and 1/8 NPT female on the other.

The Advantage of EXAIR Air Jets

EXAIR’s Engineered Air Jets provide a superior solution to minimize compressed air usage and reduce noise levels for compressed air blow-off operations.

When compared to commonly used, open copper tubes or pipes, Air Jet compressed air savings can be as high as 80%. With less compressed air moving out of the Air Jet, sound levels are reduced to a manageable level. 10 dBA noise level reductions are typical.  All EXAIR Air Jets are compliant with OSHA guidelines for dead end pressure and sound level exposure.

EXAIR Nozzles and Jets are designed and manufactured to take advantage of the Coanda (wall attachment of a high velocity fluid) effect which can amplify the airflow volume up to 25 times. The compressed air exits through a small gap in the nozzle area (#1) which entrains the surrounding air from behind the nozzle. Additional air volume is entrained from behind and around the output of the Air Jet (#2) to provide the user with an “amplified” or multiplied airflow at (#3) to do the work or provided the intended effect desired. More force with less air consumption and less noise is the goal.

How the EXAIR Air Jet Works

The Air Jets are supplied with 1/8 NPT male threads and blow air out at a right angle from the inlet. They produce a vacuum on the larger diameter side which pulls in surrounding ambient air into the total output flow. Air Jets are available in brass or Type 303 stainless steel. You can choose from a fixed flow style or an adjustable flow style to provide flexibility for your applications. The adjustable flow models have a clear micrometer air gap indicator on the side of the body, opposite the inlet, to assure consistent and accurate results. All of our Air Nozzles and Jets  are engineered to meet or exceed OSHA Standard 1910.24(b) for 30 PSIG dead end pressure, they cannot be dead-ended as there is always a route for the air to escape. In addition, our products are going to meet the OSHA Standard CFR 29 – 1910.95(a) for allowable noise exposure levels. This means you can operate them with input pressures well above 30 PSIG to get harder hitting forces while still remaining OSHA compliant. This ability for our Air Jets to accomplish this task is where the rubber meets the road so to say.

EXAIR’sSwivel Fittings Make it easy to adjust the position of the Air Jets.  The fittings allow for movement of up to 25° off axis for a total movement of 50°.  There are nine different models available and all of them are made from stainless steel

Flat Super Air Nozzles with Accessories to Fit Your Application

EXAIR’s line of 1” and 2” Flat Super Air Nozzles are rugged, efficient, and ideal for applications that require a wide forceful stream of airflow. The patented design utilizes a special shim to maintain the critical position of the component parts. The result is a laminar, high velocity blast of air with minimum air consumption and sound level.

Right 1126 1″ Flat Super Air Nozzle and Left 1122 2″ Flat Super Air Nozzle

The Flat Super Air Nozzles are available in a wide range of configurations. With both the 1” and 2” sizes you have the option to select either Zinc Aluminum alloy or Type 316 Stainless Steel for higher temperature or corrosive applications. They’re also available installed at the end of our Safety Air Guns. The 1” Flat Super Air Nozzles are ideal for our VariBlast Compact Safety Air Gun while the 2” is suitable on either our Soft Grip Safety Air Gun or the Heavy Duty Safety Air Gun. Extensions ranging from 6”-72” in length and Chip Shields also available, you have the flexibility to tailor a Safety air gun to your exact application. Since the design of the nozzle prevents any chance for it to be dead-ended, all configurations will be compliant with OSHA directive 29 CFR 1910.242(b). This means you’re able to operate at input pressures in excess of 30 PSIG without risking harm to your operators.

Air Nozzles and Jets what ever the Application we have you Covered!

Intelligently Designed Compressed air nozzles, where do we start? EXAIR has over 30 different nozzles, (not including different materials and connection styles) so It’s safe to say we are going to have one for you!

EXAIR’s Engineered Air Nozzles and Air Jets provide a superior solution to minimize compressed air usage and reduce noise levels for compressed air blow-off operations.

Air Nozzles and Jets – when compared to commonly used open copper tubes, open pipes, and commercially available air nozzles the compressed air savings can be as high as 80%. With less compressed air, sound levels are greatly reduced.  A 10 dBA noise level reduction is typical.  All EXAIR Air Nozzles and Jets meet OSHA guidelines for dead end pressure and sound level exposure requirements.

Family of Nozzles

EXAIR Nozzles are designed and manufactured to take advantage of the Coanda (wall attachment of a high velocity fluid) effect which can amplify the airflow up to 25 times. The compressed air exits through the small holes on the nozzle which entrains the surrounding air. The effect from this is a high volume, high velocity blast using less compressed air.  EXAIR manufactures many sizes and styles of air nozzles from the smallest, but quite powerful Atto Super Air Nozzles to our largest 1-1/4 NPT Super Air Nozzle.  We also offer Flat Super Air Nozzles, and the Back Blow style nozzle for cleaning out tubes, pipes, channels or holes from 1/4″ to 16″ in diameter.

All of our Air Nozzles are engineered to meet or exceed OSHA Standard 1910.24(b) for 30 PSIG dead end pressure, they cannot be dead-ended as there is always a route for the air to escape so the outlet pressure will never reach 30 PSIG. In addition, our products are going to meet the OSHA Standard CFR 29 – 1910.95(a) for allowable noise exposure levels.
EXAIR Air Jets also utilize the Coanda effect to produce air motion in their surroundings.  A small amount of compressed air (1) is throttled through an internal ring nozzle above sonic velocity.  A vacuum is produced, pulling in large volumes of surrounding, or ‘free’ air, through an around the jet (2).  The exit flow is the combination of the two air sources (3).

How an Air Jet Works

EXAIR Manufactures Air Jets in two types, High Velocity, and Adjustable with materials of construction of brass and Type 303 Stainless Steel.  The High Velocity Air Jet uses a changeable shim to set the gap, controlling the force and flow of the air.  The Adjustable does not use a shim, and has a micrometer gap indicator and locking ring to allow for varying force and flow performance.
