Patented Nozzle is a 2016 Flow Control Magazine Innovation Awards Nominee!

No Drip Atomizing Nozzle
No Drip Atomizing Nozzle

The patented (no longer patent pending) EXAIR No-Drip Atomizing Spray Nozzles have been nominated and are a finalist in the Flow Control 2016 Innovation Awards.  The No Drip Atomizing Nozzles are just a portion of the entire Liquid Atomizing Nozzle products that EXAIR Offers.   The No-Drip’s patented liquid shut off valve design eliminates the need for a separate pilot air line to positively shut off liquid flow ensuring there are no drips or excess flow from the nozzle.  These are ideal when dealing with fine surface finishes, costly liquids, or intermittent spraying needs.  The nozzles are offered in both pressure fed liquid and siphon fed liquid versions.

For the pressure fed version, the nozzle will require both compressed air and a pressurized liquid source. Both pressures can be adjusted independently giving a large spectrum of adjustment to fine tune the spray pattern and droplet sizes.  The siphon fed nozzles can draw liquid up to 36″ vertically or be gravity fed up to 18″ overhead.  This makes installation quick and easy when a pressurized liquid source, or liquid pump is not at hand.

The No-Drip Atomizing Spray Nozzles have also proven themselves in many applications, you can even read about a few of them here on our blog, links below.

Some of the reasons the EXAIR No-Drip Atomizing Nozzles were selected for these applications are the patented no-drip valve, their ability to atomize liquids to a range of 22-71 micron droplet size, the ability to fit into a tight space as well as the many spray pattern options.   These features have ranked the nozzles as a finalist in Flow Control’s 2016 Innovation Awards.

We are very grateful if you choose to vote for our nozzle at the link below. Please vote.

No Drip External Mix Atomizing Nozzle Wins Gold!

It is a very sad day for me at EXAIR… No, I’m not retiring or leaving the company, but today is my last day to write about Plant Engineering Product of the Year Awards …for this year. It has been quite an honor to write about four of our best innovations from the last year over the past weeks.  In case you missed the entries, you can click on the these links to read more about our other 2013 award winners: 316 Stainless Steel Dual Cabinet Coolers, 1 Inch Flat Super Air Nozzle or the Heavy Duty HEPA Vac. nodrip_EF Today’s post is about the No Drip External Mix Atomizing Nozzle, which the readers of the Plant Engineering magazine bestowed the gold award for fluid handling products.  EXAIR’s Liquid Atomizing Nozzles combine the liquid of your choice with compressed air to create a mist of atomized liquid.  The external mix nozzles have the highest liquid flow rate of any of EXAIR’s Liquid Atomizing Nozzles with flow rates up to 60 GPH.  They are a great solution for applications where independent air and liquid control is required.  Additionally, more viscous fluids can be used with the external mixing of the nozzle than either the internal mixing or siphon fed nozzles.  External Mixing Nozzles can be used to atomize liquids up to 800 centipoise. IMG_4031   In addition to the benefits of the external mix atomizing nozzle, this spray nozzle features a valve to positively stop liquid flow, when the compressed air drops below 30 psig. Any time you need to maintain a smooth finish or are spraying an expensive liquid, the no drip function can be invaluable to preventing rework, and ensuring a quality finish on each and every product.  The EXAIR no drip function is patent pending and does not require an additional air line to control the no drip mechanism, simplifying installation and functionality.

EXAIR Receives Plant Engineering Product of the Year Awards

Every year EXAIR strives to meet our customer needs with new products. On a day to day basis we communicate with customers who voice problems for which we might or might not have a solution. When we can’t help a customer, we see that as an opportunity to grow our business and meet those customers needs. Over the last year we have released over 250 products to fill our customer’s requests. We submitted 4 of those products to Plant Engineering for voting by their readers for Product of the Year.

No Drip Atomizing Nozzle Improves Deep Drawn Metal Process

The other day, I had the pleasure of helping a caller select an Atomizing Spray Nozzle for a particular application. They needed to apply a thin, quick drying coat of vanishing oil to the inside diameter of a round, deep drawn metal part. They were currently flooding the ID with it, and the part had to sit overnight to dry.

Since it was a cylindrical hole, it sounded like an ideal application for a Round Pattern nozzle, and, since they didn’t have an easy way to pressurize the oil source, we selected a Model SR2040SS No-Drip Siphon Fed Round Pattern Atomizing Spray Nozzle. By adjusting the siphon height and air pressure applied, they were able to quickly achieve the desired flow pattern and coating thickness.

Now, they’re able to take the part directly to the next step in their fabrication process, without the overnight drying cycle.
