The Only Constant Around Here Is Growth

But if there’s a second constant around here, it’s excellence. And if there was a third, it was this guy…right up until the day he retired:

Joe Panfalone, Application Engineer extraordinaire, holding our bounty of product awards from 2013. He's retired since, but he's not...EVER...forgotten.
Joe Panfalone, Application Engineer extraordinaire, holding our bounty of product awards from 2013. He’s retired since, but he’s not…EVER…forgotten.

Another thing we don’t want to forget – in fact, I’m writing this as a reminder to YOU, dear reader, is that EXAIR products are up for ANOTHER four Plant Engineering Product of the Year Awards this year.  If you haven’t familiarized yourself with this year’s entries yet, there are some VERY cool products to choose from, and I highly encourage you to check them out(Disclaimer: I was an engineer BEFORE I came to EXAIR, and as such, I fully recognize the value that our esteemed colleagues bring to the table with THEIR entries, but I remain convinced that OURS are the clear winners here, as I’m sure you will too.)

Voting ends this Friday, January 8th 2016, so please hurry.  We’re honored to have gotten the nod in four categories this year:

ETC Dual CC SystemsAutomation and Controls: The competition is pretty stiff in this category…I’m sure you’ll recognize the names of some major players.  But, considering the wide range of applications, the potential cost savings by regulating the use of compressed air, and the convenience afforded by the ETC Dual Cabinet Cooler Systems, it’s a real contender.

HLRDVEnvironmental Health: With the ability to vacuum heavier tramp oils, thicker sludge, more viscous fluids, and “in the floor” cisterns, the High Lift Reversible Drum Vac makes fluid transfer and spill cleanup quick & easy.  They’re in stock for 30, 55, or 110 gallon drums. If you want a drum dolly, additional vacuum tools, or even the drum itself, check out our Deluxe and Premium Kits.  With all due respect to the other entries, it’s the clear winner in this category.

Compressed Air1006ss: This has been a long-awaited addition to our already broad selection of engineered air nozzles: the Back Blow Air Nozzles, available in two sizes, can handle blowing out pipe, tube, etc. with inside diameters from 7/8″ to 16″.  You can get one installed on one of our Safety Air Guns, and they’re available with Chip Shields, and extension pipes up to 6 feet in length.  This is the most innovative product being introduced in this category this year, for sure.

Fluid HandlingNo Drip Atomizing Nozzle: The patented design of the EXAIR No-Drip Atomizing Spray Nozzle offers a stand-alone nozzle capable of controlling liquid flow without requiring a liquid control solenoid.  When the air supply pressure is shut off, so is the liquid flow…just like that.

This feature is available on any of our Atomizing Spray Nozzles.  For safety, efficiency, cleanliness, it can’t be beat.

Remember, voting ends this Friday.  I know there are some great products to choose from, but all of us at EXAIR would genuinely appreciate your vote for our products.  Of course, if you ever have any questions about how these – or any of our Intelligent Compressed Air Products – can make life easier, give me a call.

EXAIR No-Drip Atomizing Spray Nozzles Recognized By Plant Engineering

AW2030ss559
EXAIR’s patented Model AW2030SS No-Drip Atomizing Spray Nozzle

If you follow our blog, Twitter, or Facebook pages, you may have seen us mentioning recent nominations for Plant Engineering Product of the Year Awards.  2015 will mark the 28th anniversary for this award, in which Plant Engineering readers select the most outstanding new products that help them do their jobs smarter, safer, more efficiently, and more productively.

Considering the pre-qualifiers for such an award, it makes sense that EXAIR products would show up, and show up repeatedly.  This year our No-Drip Atomizing Spray Nozzles have been nominated as a finalist in the Fluid Handling category.

Products in this field are recognized to present improvement potential, allowing users to create a more innovative process.  EXAIR No-Drip Atomizing Spray Nozzles do so by providing effortless integration of controlled liquid spraying.

Compressed air and pressurized (or non-pressurized) liquid are plumbed to the nozzle.  When compressed air is flowing, liquid will flow as well.  When compressed air flow stops, liquid flow stops.  Immediately.

For an end user of this product, this means that a precise volume of a specific liquid can be sprayed in a given time (duty cycle), with complete control before, during, and after nozzle activation.

The key to adding this innovation rests in the proprietary, patented (#9,156,045) design  of EXAIR’s No-Drip Atomizing Spray Nozzles.  Our engineers have worked tirelessly to create a stand-alone nozzle capable of controlling liquid flow without requiring a liquid control solenoid.

The viability of these nozzles has been recognized by Plant Engineering as an innovative new product in 2015.  If you agree and would like to cast a vote for EXAIR, please click here.

We thank you for your readership and, hopefully, for your support in this competition.

EXAIR High Lift Reversible Drum Vac is Nominated for Product of the Year by Plant Engineering

EXAIR’s High Lift Reversible Drum Vac was nominated for 2015 Product of the Year by Plant Engineering.  (Please Vote for us HERE).  EXAIR created the High Lift Reversible Drum Vac (HLRDV) to widen the applications for vacuuming liquids.  This includes heavier tramp oils, thicker sludge, more viscous fluids, and “in the floor” cisterns.  The High Lift Reversible Drum Vac has much more power than its cousin, the Reversible Drum Vac.  It can vacuum liquids with viscosities as high as 1000 cps., and it can draw liquid up to 15 feet (4.5 meters).  It comes standard with a 20 foot (6 meters) flexible vacuum hose to utilize the maximum vacuum level of 180” H20 (336 mm Hg).  The vacuum does not have any moving parts, so they are maintenance-free, quiet, and long lasting.  With no electrical motors, the operator does not have to worry about electrical shock or motor failure and maintenance.  The High Lift Reversible Drum Vac is a nice addition to help complete the liquid vacuum product line for EXAIR.

If you have a tough job in front of you to remove or transfer liquids, you can be sure that the High Lift Reversible Drum Vac will make it much easier.  It can be adapted simply to a standard open or closed-head drum.  With the addition of accessories, you can reach into tight areas to vacuum all the “hard-to-get” places.  For accidental spills on the floor, we offer a model 6901 Spill Recovery Kit to quickly attach to the hose to vacuum up hazardous spills.  Whether the job is small or large, we also offer different size drums; 30, 55, and 110 gallons (113, 208, and 416 liter respectively).  If you want to pump faster, pump higher, or pump thicker liquids, then you need to check out the High Lift Reversible Drum Vac system.  If you have any questions about the High Lift Reversible Drum Vac system for your application, please contact our Application Engineers at EXAIR for assistance.

EXAIR Product Of The Year Candidate: Electronic Temperature Control for Dual Cabinet Cooler Systems

We have just found out that four of our new problem solving products have been nominated for Plant Engineering’s Product of the Year (Please Vote for us HERE).  The first candidate I would like to showcase is in the Automation & Controls category.  The Electronic Temperature Control for Dual Cabinet Cooler Systems effectively turn the compressed air supply to the Cabinet Coolers on and off as needed to maintain a constant temperature inside of a hot enclosure. Using the air intermittently to maintain a specific temperature is the most efficient way to operate.

The ETC Dual Cabinet Cooler Systems work in conjunction with EXAIR’s UL listed Cabinet Cooler Systems which provide cooling for your electrical enclosures without the use of refrigerant based coolants or fans.   The Cabinet Cooler Systems utilize a compressed air driven Vortex Tube which uses compressed air. This cold compressed air is exhausted into the enclosure which results in a cool working environment for your electronics. Warm air from inside the enclosure is vented safely back out of the cabinet through built in exhausts and the compressed air is only utilized when the internal air temperature reaches the digitally set temperature on the ETC.

Another added benefit of the ETC on the Cabinet Cooler system is the real time readout of the internal air temperature of your enclosures.  This is on top of the push button set point which will give you a +/-2°F ambient temperature inside of your enclosure.

The ETC Dual Cabinet Cooler Systems are designed for larger heat loads ranging from 3,400 BTU/hr. to 5,600 BTU/hr.   The units are available in NEMA 12, NEMA 4, and NEMA 4X ratings.   This means whether you are in a fairly clean environment or a dirty, hot, muggy environment, EXAIR has you covered.

If you would like to discuss either the ETC or the Cabinet Cooler Systems, please contact an Application Engineer.   If you would like to vote for our products, please check out the Plant Engineering Product of the Year page here.

Product of the Year Award Winner- Long Super Air Knives

20150327_134253
Plant Engineering’s 2014 Product of the Year Award!

Last week, Plant Engineering presented EXAIR’s Long Super Air Knives the Bronze award for Product of the Year in the compressed air category.  In 2014, EXAIR introduced one piece, seamless Long Super Air Knives up to 108″ in length. No other company in the world can provide a one piece compressed air operated air knife over 54″ long. This one piece design allows for minimal footprint for long units, and an unparalleled uniform sheet of laminar air flow.  These long Super Air Knives conserve compressed air over drilled pipes or a manifold of air nozzles. Their compact design excels at large web drying and cleaning operations i.e. paper, rolled steel, aluminum foils, or plastic sheets. Air knives also excel at cooling extrusions, molds, heated rollers, or components. The air knives entrain ambient air at 40:1 ratio (40 parts ambient to 1 part compressed air) which means it moves a tremendous volume of air and delivers it to your target. The Super Air Knives provide all of these benefits quietly and efficiently. The air knife creates only 69 dBA of noise at 80 PSIG of pressure and it would be a great addition in areas where anyone is trying to limit harmful noise exposure to personnel.

72″ Long Super Air Knife – One Piece Air Knives available in lengths up to 108″

These air knives continue EXAIR’s history of pushing the envelope in air knife technology. In 2010, EXAIR introduced the first polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) air knife to the market. The PVDF Super Air Knives provide resistance to UV light, inorganic chemicals, solvents, ozone, weather, fungi, chlorinated hydrocarbons, highly corrosive acids, weak bases and salts while maintaining a quiet operation (69 dBA).  This material change opened EXAIR to a variety of environments that cannot be served by blowers, aluminum, or stainless steel air knives.
