Ready For Spring

Temperatures are changing here in the Midwest which means Spring is right around the corner. Basically what that means for Ohio is that it could be close to 70° and sunny one day and 32° with snow flurries the next. For my oldest son and I, the warmer temperatures mean camping and fishing are getting closer (YES!) but it also means that it’s time for the dreaded Spring cleaning and the yard work begins.

Having been a little preoccupied with our new family addition, I haven’t had much time to stay on top of keeping things tidy. In fact, my garage looks like the Tasmanian Devil had himself a good ole time (with the help of a certain 7 year old). The sidewalk and back patio both need pressure washed and our storage shed could use some attention as well. Hoping to get a start on these projects in the next few weeks!

In industry, keeping a clean work environment can be vital to maintaining a steady production flow. Luckily EXAIR has you covered with our compressed air operated Industrial Housekeeping Products. Requiring no electricity means there are no expensive parts to replace or motors to burn out from the rigors of industrial use. Designed to fit standard steel drums, the units are easy to use and operate.

Take for example our Chip Vac System designed to vacuum dry or coolant covered chips or other dry media. Or the Heavy Duty Dry Vac System which is similar to the Chip Vac but features a more powerful vacuum and holds up better to abrasive material (sand, glass, garnet) with its hardened alloy construction.

For liquid handling we offer our Reversible Drum Vac Systems that are capable of filling or emptying a 55 gallon drum in 90 seconds. Maybe you have suspended solids in your coolant that need filtered? The Chip Trapper System would be the ideal choice to separate chips from your coolant stream and then return the clean coolant back to the sump.

Finally for dusty environments, we offer our Heavy Duty HEPA Vac providing 99.97% filtration at 0.3 micron with it’s HEPA filter to trap dust and fine particles.

Understanding the need to keep things neat and clean, we are currently offering a free Vac-u-Gun with the purchase of an Industrial Vacuum System through 5/31/16.

“Deluxe” and “Premium”

These are two words that have been important parts of my vocabulary for most of my life. As a long time fast-food burger connoisseur, these words mean I’m getting something other than a hastily cooked ground beef patty on an enriched white flour bun that may or may not have been sitting under a heat lamp for a specific period of time. If you’re anywhere near as familiar with drive-thru cuisine as I am, you’ll know that “Deluxe” usually means a variety of toppings has been added to an otherwise relatively plain sandwich…it’s been “run through the garden,” if you will. And “Premium” can mean anything from a special bun, gourmet cheese, up-scale meat, and/or the addition of bacon…they ALWAYS get me at bacon…

I don't know what the knife and fork are doing there, but whatever...
I don’t know what the knife and fork are doing there, but whatever…

EXAIR’s Industrial Vacuums are also available in Deluxe and Premium Kits. Now, if you’ve already got a drum, our standard Kits will quickly and economically turn that drum into a powerful, fast, and efficient vacuum system, without the need for anything fancy. If you’re looking for complete, comprehensive clean up solutions, though, our Deluxe Kits add a drum dolly, a tool holder, and additional tools. The Premium Kits also include a durable steel drum and a set of Heavy Duty Aluminum Tools.

Whatever your needs are, we’ve got an efficient, quiet, durable, long-lasting, maintenance-free vacuum system for you. Our Reversible Drum Vac will empty…or fill…a 55 gallon drum in 90 seconds (tested with water.) Our new High Lift Reversible Drum Vac pumps that same 55 gallons in just 85 seconds, with up to 15 feet of suction head. Then, of course, the Chip Trapper uses our Reversible Drum Vac technology to filter and extend the life of your machine tool coolants, lubricating oils, etc.

For solids vacuuming situations, our Chip Vac picks up wet or dry chips, debris, etc., and deposits them directly into the drum. This is the function of the Heavy Duty Dry Vac as well. It’s more powerful than the Chip Vac, for use with heavier debris, and it’s made of a hardened alloy for superior abrasion resistance. The Heavy Duty HEPA Vac delivers the same high performance, with a high efficiency filter for total dust containment.

Whatever your Industrial Vacuum needs are, we’ve got a solution for you. And if you order before the end of March, we’ll throw in a FREE Vac-u-Gun…our lightweight and portable vacuum gun, blow gun, and transfer tool, all in one. Call me to find out more.

EXAIR’s Industrial Housekeeping Products are Portable

?????????????????????????

I had noticed somewhat of a trend in my inquiries regarding our Industrial Housekeeping Products of late. It seems that customers want to use our Chip Vac, Heavy Duty Dry Vac or perhaps the Heavy Duty HEPA Vac with a really long vacuum hose. I’m talking like 50 or 60 feet worth of suction hose. And when I ask the customers why they want such a long hose, they say it is so they can reach all parts of their shop from a central location.

It did not occur to me until now that folks may not realize that, in fact, all of our Industrial Housekeeping Products are made to be moved around the shop, just like you would an electric shop vacuum with casters.

All of our Industrial Housekeeping Products have an industrial drum dolly available for them from the smallest 5 gallon sizes up to the big 110 gallon units. In fact, our Chip Trapper product comes with one included as part of the base system.

If you have a need to vacuum debris from multiple locations, moving the Industrial Housekeeping unit around the shop allows you to keep your vacuum hose as short as possible (we have 10 ft. hoses). With this configuration, you do not suffer the line losses associated with trying to create a vacuum across a 60 ft. long vacuum hose which results in lost performance. Dealing with a 10 ft. hose is also a lot less hassle than a much longer one.  It is a better idea to use a longer compressed air hose to supply your Industrial Housekeeping Vacuum system with compressed air and roll it around to each area where you need to use it. Compressed air travels through hoses much more readily than vacuum flows do.

EXAIR has all the necessary accessory items available including Drum Dollies and compressed air hoses to outfit the Industrial Housekeeping Products.

No Drip External Mix Atomizing Nozzle Wins Gold!

It is a very sad day for me at EXAIR… No, I’m not retiring or leaving the company, but today is my last day to write about Plant Engineering Product of the Year Awards …for this year. It has been quite an honor to write about four of our best innovations from the last year over the past weeks.  In case you missed the entries, you can click on the these links to read more about our other 2013 award winners: 316 Stainless Steel Dual Cabinet Coolers, 1 Inch Flat Super Air Nozzle or the Heavy Duty HEPA Vac. nodrip_EF Today’s post is about the No Drip External Mix Atomizing Nozzle, which the readers of the Plant Engineering magazine bestowed the gold award for fluid handling products.  EXAIR’s Liquid Atomizing Nozzles combine the liquid of your choice with compressed air to create a mist of atomized liquid.  The external mix nozzles have the highest liquid flow rate of any of EXAIR’s Liquid Atomizing Nozzles with flow rates up to 60 GPH.  They are a great solution for applications where independent air and liquid control is required.  Additionally, more viscous fluids can be used with the external mixing of the nozzle than either the internal mixing or siphon fed nozzles.  External Mixing Nozzles can be used to atomize liquids up to 800 centipoise. IMG_4031   In addition to the benefits of the external mix atomizing nozzle, this spray nozzle features a valve to positively stop liquid flow, when the compressed air drops below 30 psig. Any time you need to maintain a smooth finish or are spraying an expensive liquid, the no drip function can be invaluable to preventing rework, and ensuring a quality finish on each and every product.  The EXAIR no drip function is patent pending and does not require an additional air line to control the no drip mechanism, simplifying installation and functionality.

The “Selfie” and the Heavy Duty HEPA Vac

Selfie – “a photograph that one has taken of oneself, typically one taken with a smartphone or webcam and uploaded to a social media website” – was named the “Word Of The Year” by Oxford Dictionaries editors. This news broke yesterday*, and, little did I know, the practice has been around for quite some time…

OK; maybe you SHOULDN'T believe everything you see on the Internet
OK; maybe you SHOULDN’T believe everything you see on the Internet

The folks at Oxford pick their Word Of The Year by, primarily, an increase in the frequency of usage. Turns out, they search a variety of mainstream media sources, and count how many times the word appears, per billion words. “Selfie” was the runaway hit this year, going from a frequency of about 500 appearances per billion words in January 2013, to over 5,000 appearances per billion words in October.

Earlier this year, EXAIR introduced our Heavy Duty HEPA Vac Systems for 55 Gallon Drums to meet the demand for a rugged, reliable, large capacity High Efficiency Particulate Air vacuum system…and it has indeed met that demand. So much so, in fact, that we decided to develop an even larger capacity unit, which became available for purchase yesterday*: the Premium 110 Gallon Heavy Duty HEPA Vac Systems. Like our other Premium Industrial Vacuum Systems, this comes complete with a steel drum & dolly, a Static Resistant Vacuum Hose, 20 feet of compressed air hose with a shutoff valve & pressure gauge, Heavy Duty Aluminum Tools, and a Magnetic Tool Holder, which attaches to the drum for easy storage & access.
