EXAIR Soft Grip Safety Air Gun

EXAIR Safety Air Guns use engineered air nozzles for high performance. Inexpensive air guns are sold through many catalogs and industrial supply companies. Most have triggers or other parts that break quickly. Their performance is similar to open pipe, where they simply blow a lot of compressed air. In addition to high air consumption, many produce noise levels that violate OSHA requirements. Some even generate dangerous dead end pressures that can result in serious or fatal injuries if blocked.

EXAIR Model 1210 Soft Grip Safety Air Gun

EXAIR’s Soft Grip Safety Air Gun has a durable cast aluminum body that is best suited for rugged industrial use. The ergonomic design has a larger trigger for easy operation and a convenient hanger hook for easy storage. Chip Shields for worker safety are available. Extension pipes and stay set hoses for hard to reach areas are also available.

The inefficient use of compressed air for blow-off applications may create problems due to noise level. High noise levels are a common problem for many plants. Compressed air noise often exceeds OSHA noise level exposure requirements, resulting in close proximity.

Air can also be dangerous when the outlet pressure of a hole, hose or copper tube is higher than 30 PSOG (2 BAR). In the event the opening is blocked by a hand or other body part, air may enter the bloodstream through the skin, resulting i a serious injury.

EXAIR Safety Air Guns use our engineered air nozzles which meet or exceed OSHA Standard 29 CFR – 1910.95 (a) Maximum Allowable Noise Exposure and also OSHA Standard 29CFR 1910.242 (b) Harmful Dead End Pressure.

Product Spotlight: Soft Grip Super Air Scraper

Have you ever dipped your hand into a warm bath of paraffin wax? You can feel your hand relaxing. When you pull it out and begin to peel the wax away you can already tell how soft and refreshed your hand feels. And then someone gives you a hand massage while you sit there in complete bliss, your hand completely relaxed and rejuvenated. Well, this is not at all how the Soft Grip Super Air Scraper makes your hands feel. But the Soft Grip handle is very comfortable and does feel better than any other option on the market.

The Soft Grip handle is ideal for continuous use without causing fatigue. The design keeps your hand in a comfortable position and the large trigger allows an easy pull with one finger or all of them. This is built to endure the toughest industrial environments, and it even comes with a convenient hangar hook for easy storage.

Scrape off, and blow away, stubborn debris with the Model 1244-48 Soft Grip Super Air Scraper.

Once we get past the comfortable handle, we move down to the purpose. The Air Scraper portion will assist in removing some of the toughest debris found in industrial facilities. The patented design uses the scraping blade along with powerful compressed air flow. This is perfect for any of those sticky substances like caulk, sealants, gaskets, adhesives, tape, paint stickers, labels, grease, lubricants, and so much more. This will help you keep your machining tables, and assembly stations clean and functional.

The scraper is made of corrosion resistant steel and is attached to a 2″ Super Air Nozzle. It is very formidable to provide the strength necessary for the toughest scenarios. This comes with a 3/4″ extension for those close up needs, but we offer extensions for this from 6″ to 72″ long so that you can reach table tops, walls, inside machines, and floors.

INDIANA: Energy Rebates and EXAIR Save You Money On Top of Compressed Air Savings

The energy rebates described below are available throughout the country, not just Indiana – but here is the latest example.

Here in Cincinnati we border two states, our bypass loop actually goes through both of them, Kentucky and Indiana. Indiana is a state that most may fly over or if you are going anywhere it may be to go to Indianapolis, myself, I have a few ties to the state elsewhere, from racing motorcycles at Putnam Park west of Indy, my niece attending the prestigious Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, to my previous career where I installed CNC machines in various parts of the state. While many may think the state is a giant wind power farm, there is a great deal of industry and manufacturing throughout the state including pharmaceutical and medical devices, mining, and transportation. The leading energy provider for the state, Duke Energy, also supports these manufacturers with programs to incentivize (through rebates) products which increase efficiency.

We’ve mentioned energy rebates previously and I have recently had the chance to help a customer with their energy rebate. More often than not, these rebates are an after thought, I hope that after reading this we can help you to check with your local service provider to see if they offer a similar process – they are available throughout the country from MANY electricity providers. The process for this customer was based off purchasing a single Soft Grip Safety Air Gun with Stainless Steel Mini Super Air Nozzle. The rebate was focused on the engineered air nozzle. For a 1/8″ NPT nozzle, it must consume 10 SCFM or less at 80 psig inlet pressure. For a 1/4″ NPT nozzle, they have to consume 17 SCFM or less at 80 psig. The fact the nozzle was assembled onto a Soft Grip Safety Air Gun enabled the customer to apply for a rebate for the full cost of the whole air gun.

EXAIR Model 1299SS – Soft Grip Safety Air Gun w/ Stainless Steel Mini Super Air Nozzle

The value of the rebate for Indiana where Duke is the energy supplier is $40.00 USD per engineered nozzle installed. The rebate is capped at 75 percent of the project cost in Indiana. The current cost of the 1299SS is $134.00, which enables this customer to the full $40.00 for each Safety Air Gun with Mini Super Air Nozzle they install. This is one of the simplest prescriptive rebates in the Duke Energy program. The main focus here is to conserve compressed air which ultimately puts more energy available to the rest of the grid. The engineered nozzle prescriptive rebate is just one way that Duke Energy customers in the state of Indiana can save.

If you are in the state of Indiana (OR ANYWHERE ELSE IN THE USA) and would like to discuss whether the Safety Air Guns or any point of use compressed air application in your facility can be improved, contact an Application Engineer. The truth is we all love saving a customer their resources, whether it be compressed air, electricity, liquid, or good old-fashioned cash.

Back Blow Nozzles and Air Guns

EXAIR Back Blow Air Nozzles come in three sizes, for bores from 1/4″ to 16″ in diameter!

EXAIR manufactures three different sizes of Back Blow Air Nozzles to clean inside tubing, pipes, hoses, blind holes, and channels.  The 360o rear airflow pattern can “wipe” the entire internal surface clean from coolant, chips, and debris.  They are constructed of 316SS, making these nozzles robust, durable and more resistant to corrosives.

Back Blow Air Nozzle Family

Our smallest Back Blow Nozzle is the Model 1004SS.  It has a M4 X 0.5 male thread and can clean diameters ranging from ¼” (6.3mm) to 1” (25.4mm).  Model 1006SS has a ¼” NPT air connection for cleaning inner diameters ranging from 7/8” (22mm) up to 4” (102mm).  Our largest Back Blow Air Nozzle is the model 1008SS.  It has a 1” NPT connection, and it can be used inside diameters ranging from 2” (51mm) to 16” (406mm).

Now, what can make these unique types of air nozzles even more useful?  Attaching them to an EXAIR Safety Air Gun.  In this blog, I will go through each of our Back Blow Safety Air Guns that EXAIR can offer from stock.

VariBlast Compact model 1604SS-6-CS

VariBlast Compact Back Blow Safety Air Gun:

The unique feature that sets the VariBlast apart from other small air guns is the force variability.  The valve is designed to control the opening to allow for a variable force with the same nozzle.  The VariBlast is made from a durable cast aluminum construction for tough industrial use.  It has a rugged ergonomic grip with a user-friendly trigger.  The compressed air inlets are located in two different positions to select the best fit for your application.

With the model 1004SS Back Blow nozzle, the VariBlast Compact Back Blow Safety Air Gun is a small but powerful tool that can clean inside smaller pipes, tubes, and hoses.  The extension tubes range from 6” (152mm) to 36” (914mm) to extend deep inside cavities and openings.  The Chip Shield is made from a durable polycarbonate material that will protect your operators during use.

Soft Grip
models 1204SS-6-CS and 1206SS-6-CS

Soft Grip Back Blow Safety Air Guns:

The next size air gun in this series is the Soft Grip Safety Air Gun.  With an ergonomic soft handle and full-grip trigger, the Soft Grip Safety Air Gun can be used for hours without fatigue.  EXAIR offers two types of Back Blow Nozzles with the Soft Grip; model 1004SS and model 1006SS.

Like the VariBlast above, the Soft Grip Back Blow Safety Air Gun with the model 1004SS has the same extensions ranging from 6” (152mm) to 36” (914mm) as well as a Chip Shield.  With the larger 1006SS Back Blow Nozzle, the Soft Grip has extensions that range from 6” (152mm) to 72” (1,829mm) in length with a Chip Shield.  Both of these types of Soft Grip Back Blow Safety Air Guns are great products in allowing you to clean inside a greater variety of diameters and lengths.

Heavy Duty model 1206SS-6-CS

Heavy Duty Back Blow Safety Air Gun:

For rough industrial environments, EXAIR offers the Heavy Duty Safety Air Guns.  They come with a composite rubber grip and a wide curved trigger.  It has a 3/8” NPT inlet for increased compressed air flow for those “tough” cleanings.

The Heavy Duty Back Blow Safety Air Gun comes standard with the model 1006SS Back Blow Nozzle, an extension pipe, and a Chip Shield.  The extensions lengths can range from 6” (152mm) to 72” (1,829mm).  If you need a tough air gun for rugged areas to clean inside pipes and tubes, the Heavy Duty Back Blow Safety Air Gun could be the best candidate for your application.

Super Blast model 1219SS

Super Blast Back Blow Safety Air Gun:

As our largest model, the Super Blast Back Blow Safety Air Gun has the strongest blowing force.  They can clean large areas inside pipes, channels, and tubes ranging from 2” (51mm) to 16” (406mm) in diameter.  It has a soft foam grip for easy handling and a spring-loaded manual valve that will turn off if dropped.  The model 1008SS Back Blow Nozzle is mounted to an extension that is either 1 foot (0.3m), 3 feet (0.9m), or 6 feet (1.8m) in length.  With a 1” NPT inlet, the Super Blast Back Blow Safety Air Gun will generate a strong blast of air for cleaning and removing troublesome material.

If you need to clean the entire surface inside of tubes, hoses, channels, pipes, etc., EXAIR has the perfect product for you, the Back Blow Air Nozzles.  They can remove the dirty coolant, chips, and debris in a non-contact way.  EXAIR offers these nozzles with our VariBlast, Soft Grip, Heavy Duty, and Super Blast Safety Air Guns for manual cleaning operations.  EXAIR stocks these Safety Air Guns for fast delivery.  And if you are located in the U.S.A or Canada, we offer a 30-day unconditional guarantee.  You can try them out and see how effective, safe, and powerful they are in improving your internal cleaning processes.  If you need more details, you can contact an Application Engineer at EXAIR.  We will be happy to help you.
