Then EXAIR has the solution for you, enter the High Lift Reversible Drum Vac. Like the standard Reversible Drum Vac, the High Lift RDV is a compressed air operated, liquid only vacuum with no moving parts or motors that can fail, like those in traditional electrically powered vacuums. What separates the High Lift RDV from the traditional version is the higher vacuum it achieves which allows you to lift liquids up to 15′, move liquids up to 20′ and handle fluids with viscosity as high as 1400 centipoise.
The High Lift Reversible Drum Vac is a high powered vacuum able to lift liquids up to 15′ and fill a 55 gallon drum in less than 85 seconds!
The High Lift Reversible Drum Vac features a two-way pump constructed of stainless steel and a built-in safety relieve valve to avoid over pressurizing or over-filling the drum. Air consumption is minimal, at 43 SCFM @ 80 PSIG, while maintaining a low noise level of only 83 dBA. In “empty” mode, the HLRDV achieves a flow rate of 30 gallons per minute (water) to quickly empty the drum.
Systems are available in 30, 55 and 110 gallon capacities in 3 different variations:
The Standard Systems include the High Lift Reversible Drum Vac, shutoff valve, 20′ vacuum hose, standpipe, 90° quick release elbow and aluminum chip wand.

Deluxe Systems include all of the items shown above in the “Standard” System and adds a drum dolly, ABS plastic spill recovery kit, (2) extension wands, crevice tool, skimmer tool and a magnetic tool holder.

And Premium Systems include all of the items in “Deluxe” Systems and adds the drum with lock ring and lid, heavy duty aluminum tools and 20′ compressed air hose.

When I think of “special” in regard to Air Amplifiers, I’m more inclined to think of the applications they can be used in. I mean, the Air Amplifier itself is about as straight-forward as an engineered compressed air product can be:
Air Amplifiers use the Coanda Effect to generate high flow with low consumption.
Considering the simplicity of the product itself, they can be used for a large variety of “typical” applications:
Cooling
Drying
Cleaning
Ventilation
Fume Exhausting
Dust Collection
There are no shortage of “special” applications either. They’re used successfully in Air Operated Conveyance applications (when the stronger vacuum head of a Line Vac isn’t required) and we’ve even got a customer who uses one instead of an E-Vac Vacuum Generator for a “pick & place” operation…they’re picking up small, porous fiber discs (sort of like a coffee filter) one at a time, and the E-Vac wanted to pick up a good part of the whole stack, no matter how low they turned the pressure. And of course, I can’t think of anything more special about Air Amplifiers than this:

With fifteen distinct models to choose from in a range of sizes (3/4″ to 8″,) materials (aluminum or Stainless Steel) and even a High Temperature model that’s rated to 700°F (374°C), we’ve still made a fair number of Custom Air Amplifiers too…thirty-four, to be exact, as of this writing.
I won’t bore you with all the details – I can’t, actually, because some of them are proprietary* – but here are some “regular” examples of “special” accommodations:
Connections: EXAIR Air Amplifiers have smooth bores on the inlet & outlet plenums that you can hose clamp a hose (or round duct) to if you need to get air flow from, or to, one place or another. Sometimes, though, they’re going in to an existing system, so we’ve made them with flanges (150#RF and Sanitary Tri-Clamp, for example) or threads (NPT or BSPP.) If you want to use something other than a standard hose or duct line, we can help.
Material of construction: Our durable, lightweight aluminum Super & Adjustable Air Amplifiers are just fine an awful lot of the time. Our type 303 Stainless Steel Adjustable Air Amplifiers will hold up to heat and corrosives. We’ve also in PTFE (Teflon™) as well as a range of metal alloys to meet specific corrosion or wear conditions. If your environment calls for a little something extra, we can help.
Assembly: Super Air Amplifiers are fitted with a stock shim that gives you published performance. We’ve got other thicknesses, though, if you need more (or less) flow, though. Adjustable Air Amplifiers are, well, adjustable…you just thread the plug in/out of the body until you get the results you want. Sometimes the user knows what shim they want in a Super Air Amplifier, or what gap their Adjustable Air Amplifier needs to be set to, and we can assemble it accordingly. If you have a ‘tried-and-true’ performance setting and want it met right out of the box, we can help.
Assembly, part 2: Good engineering practices call for lubrication on O-rings and threaded connections, and we use high quality, general purpose compounds when assembling our Air Amplifiers. These are detrimental, however, in certain situations (silicone exclusion areas, I’m looking at you.) If certain chemicals or compounds are prohibited by your application, we can help.
*Let’s say you’ve done the “heavy lifting” to call out one (or more) of these special design features. If we make a custom product (and that’s not just Air Amplifiers, by the way) using directions based on your time and labor, we’ll treat that product as proprietary to you, and you alone.

A demolition company was looking for a way to remove the liquid from sumps and tanks in the industrial buildings they were contracted to provide their service upon. The liquids in question were mainly coolant and oil that had been left behind when the machinery was removed…anything that could be re-used was already gone; this was the “bitter dregs,” as it were. Since these buildings are about to be demolished, electricity is rarely available.
They had a pumping system that ran off a diesel engine that they COULD take with them, but they ALWAYS had a large mobile air compressor for the pneumatic tools used in other processes in the demolition of the building. Since they had steel drums in abundance, the Reversible Drum Vac Systems sounded very attractive to them, so they got a Model 6295 Deluxe High Lift Reversible Drum Vac System for 55 Gallon Drum to try out.
The High Lift Reversible Drum Vac System converts a drum and dolly into a mobile pumping system.
Now, instead of committing an additional truck (and driver) to getting the diesel engine driven pumping system to the site, they simply move the Reversible Drum Vac pump unit from 55 gallon drum to 55 gallon drum as they’re filled. Once the drums are returned to their facility, they switch the the Reversible Drum Vac to the “empty drum” configuration, and use it to pump the liquid out into their recycling tanks, where they await collection and processing by their waste handling service. Even when they have to use a number of drums, the High Lift Reversible Drum Vac Systems still streamline the process over the use of the diesel engine pumping system.

Recently, a manufacturer of custom magnetics called in about a special application. In the manufacturing of certain electronic systems, a very expensive, thick epoxy glue is used. They were exploring ways to be able to collect the excess after application. They had used a system in the past and were looking to replicate it. The previous system had an old boxy vacuum generator, and they asked us if we could provide a vacuum source that matched the performance specifications but in a more compact design. After researching the specifications and a comprehensive comparison, we could offer the EXAIR model 810013 Inline E-Vac, generating up to 27 ” Hg of vacuum. A basic sketch of the design concept is shown below-
By using the model 810013 to create a vacuum within the chamber, a strong suction can be generated at the tube inlet, strong enough to draw in the excess epoxy. The glue can be collected in the chamber for recycling and reuse, and because of the design, the glue does not pass through the E-Vac and cause any issues with build up or blockage that would hinder the performance, leading to the need to clean the unit.
The Many Sizes of E-Vac Models Available
EXAIR manufactures E-Vac’s for both porous and non-porous applications, as well as a line of Adjustable E-Vac Generators. Smallest units use only 1.5 SCFM of 80 PSIG compressed air and the largest Adjustable E-Vac unit can pull 81 SCFM of air at open draw and 15″ Hg vacuum level setting. With a wide range of sizes and types, there is a model available to meet your vacuum generation needs.
As a side note – the EXAIR Reversible Drum Vac, High Lift Reversible Drum Vac, Chip Trapper, and High Lift Chip Trapper all use this same basic principle of applying a vacuum to a chamber, but on a much larger scale, to turn a 5, 30, 55 or 110 gallon drum into an industrial liquid vacuum system. The vacuum generating unit is of a different design, made specifically for the Industrial Housekeeping Products.
