EXAIR Blowoff Systems For Easy Air Nozzle Installation and Aiming

EXAIR engineered Air Nozzles are quiet, efficient, and safe, which makes them ideal solutions for air blowing applications. Selection is largely determined by the size & shape of the desired air flow. Our Air Nozzles & Jets catalog section lists them all, from smallest to largest, along with performance data and airflow patterns, so determining the right one for your application is pretty easy.

The next question is, how do you install it? If it’s replacing another blowing device, odds are, you’re an adapter fitting away (if that) from a quick & easy install:

Compression fittings and Model 1100 Super Air Nozzles transformed the part ejection on this press from “loud and wasteful” to “quiet and efficient” in about a minute.
Swivel Fittings for Air Nozzles.

For new installations, your compressed air drop may be located some distance from the installation. Properly sized pipe or hose can get you from the drop to the point of installation, but what happens when you get there? If you use hard pipe, and you can run it right to the spot where you want the air to blow, your Air Nozzle will essentially be as well supported as the piping. A Swivel Fitting will then allow you to aim it precisely.

Compressed air hose is inexpensive and easy to work with, but it provides no support for a blow off device at the point of use. This is where EXAIR Blowoff Systems come in. Any EXAIR Air Nozzle, up to our 1/4 NPT models, can be fitted with a Stay Set Hose which, all by itself, could be used at the end of a properly supported piping run instead of a Swivel Fitting. It’ll give you more reach – they come in lengths from 6″ to 36″ – and more flexibility in adjustment than the Swivel Fittings.

Precise aiming and location is a breeze with EXAIR Stay Set Hoses.

If you don’t have a pipe manifold like the one shown above, but you have an iron or steel surface in close proximity, a Magnetic Base can be used. EXAIR offers three styles:

Model 9042 Single Outlet Mag Base (left), 9043 Dual Outlet Mag Base (center) and 9029 Swivel Mag Base (right), and some typical uses.

If you’re looking for an efficient, quiet, and safe method of blowing compressed air, EXAIR has you covered with a wide variety of Intelligent Compressed Air Products to choose from. If you have questions about them, or how to mount them for optimal performance, give me a call.

Swivel Fittings: Adjusting Their Way Into Your Application

Ever had that spot that you needed to blow off but no matter how hard you tried you couldn’t reach the spot with piping? Well here at EXAIR we’ve got a solution for you; Introducing the swivel fitting! When blowing off various parts it is better to have an angled sweep of air rather than blowing directly across or directly down onto the part. EXAIR’s Swivel fittings provide a movement of 25 degrees from the center, meaning a total of 50 degrees.

EXAIR’s Swivel Fittings Adjusted
Regardless of size of the air nozzle we can provide a swivel fitting to fit all of our nozzles starting at an M4 Thread up to a 1” NPT. The M4 (4mm), M5 (5mm), and M6 (6mm) swivel fittings come with a Female NPT to screw the nozzle into and a Male NPT to attach to the swivel fitting to the pipe. For our 1/8” Fitting up to the 1” Fittings a male NPT is used to connect the Nozzle and a female NPT is used to connect to the pipe. The swivel fittings can easily be adjusted by either loosening or tightening the center hex nut.
EXAIR’s Family of Swivel Fittings
If the swivel fitting doesn’t give you the adjustment that you need, they can be coupled with our Stay Set Hoses to give extra adjustment and positioning. Our stay set hoses come in lengths of 6” all the way up to 36” and provide easy positioning for your application. Of course, these hoses can also be used without a swivel fitting.
EXAIR’s Family of Stay Set Hoses
Swivel fittings are not used with just air nozzles, in many cases swivel fittings have been used with our smaller Air Amplifiers and our 3” Air Knifes.

EXAIR’s Swivel Fittings Provide Precise Blowoff Positioning

EXAIR’s smaller Swivel Fittings for the Atto, Pico, and Nano Super Air Nozzles

Are you tired of having to scrounge around the production floor for the right fittings to precisely position your air nozzle? Not only is it a pain to try and find the correct fittings, extensions, etc. but once you do the position of the nozzle is hard to adjust. To alleviate this problem, EXAIR has designed a variety of different sized swivel fittings that allow you to precisely position the nozzle, then easily tighten and lock into place.

Don’t waste time using various pipe fittings to position your nozzle, use an EXAIR Swivel Fitting

EXAIR’s Swivel Fittings are available in 9 different sizes, from as small as 1/8” NPT male x M4 x .5mm female and up to 1” NPT male x 1” NPT female. The smaller swivels (M4-M6) are constructed of 316 stainless steel and the swivels ranging from 1/8 NPT – 1” NPT are available in 303 stainless steel. The Swivel Fittings allow for movement of 25 degrees from the center axis for a total movement of 50 degrees. This permits correct placement of the blowing angle, helping to optimize the performance of your blowoff process. With no gaskets or seals to wear out, there’s no maintenance required to maintain optimum performance.

Swivel Fittings

Swivels can be used on any of our Air Nozzles up to 1” and can also be used with the Adjustable and Super Air Amplifiers. By simply adding a “W” suffix to the part number, the correctly sized swivel fitting will be added to your order. For example, an 1122W would be one of our 2” Flat Super Air Nozzles with a ¼ NPT male x ¼ NPT female Swivel Fitting included. Stop wasting time trying to find the proper fittings and positioning for your blowoff nozzles! Improving Auger Cleaning Process Using 2″ Flat Super Air Nozzles And Swivels

I recently worked with a customer who was looking to improve the cleaning process on the  inside of one of their screw augers. They were currently using a couple of 1/4″ pipes as air wands to clean the left over powder on the auger blades and direct it toward a chute at the bottom which fed into another auger used for recovery. While the setup worked somewhat, they were concerned with the amount of air they were using as well as the OSHA safety concerns associated to using open ended pipes and excessive noise levels.

The customer was able to send a sketch of their current setup and after some further conversations, I recommended our Model # 1122 2″ Flat Super Air Nozzle and our Model # 9053 1/4″ NPT Swivel Fitting. The 2″ Flat Super Air Nozzle produces a 2″ wide, high velocity laminar airflow and uses only 21.8 SCFM (80 PSIG) while maintaining a low sound level of only 77 dBA. The Swivel Fitting allows for 50 degrees of movement, so they can achieve the best angle to direct the air to the critical areas.

2″ Flat Super Air Nozzle

Swivel Fittings available from M4 up to 1″ NPT

All of our Air Nozzles are engineered to meet or exceed OSHA Standard 1910.24(b) for 30 PSIG dead end pressure, they cannot be dead-ended, there is always a path for the air to safely exit so the outlet pressure will never reach 30 PSIG. In addition, our products are going to meet the OSHA Standard CFR 29 – 1910.95(a) for allowable noise exposure levels as well.

If you are looking to reduce air consumption and noise while improving operator safety, give us a call at 800-903-9247 for assistance.
