EXAIR Receives 4 Finalists for Product of the Year 2015!

Voting is now open and we would like your votes!

For 28 years, Plant Engineering magazine’s knowledgable readers have chosen  outstanding new products that help them do their jobs smarter, safer, more efficiently and more productively. These products, which are newly released in manufacturing industries,  are recognized with Plant Engineering’s Product of the Year Award. Many products categories are represented including, Compressed Air, Automation and Controls, Electric Motors and Drives, Environmental Health,  and Fluid Handling among others. Four of the products we released in 2015 are finalists in four different categories. Voting is open now and goes on through January 8, 2016.

Here are the products up for the 2015 award:

  1. High Lift Reversible Drum Vac:  Nominated in the Environmental Health category, our new High Lift Reversible Drum Vac is ideal for the recovery of fluids like: coolant, hydraulic oils, sludge and chips, waste water, tramp oil and liquid spills. The High Lift Reversible Drum Vac has been engineered to recover liquids found within below grade sumps, wells, underground tanks, pits and drains with up to 15′ of lift.  VOTE HERE
  2. No Drip Liquid Air Nozzles:  These patented atomizing spray nozzles, in the fluid handling category, have the added benefit of positively stopping liquid flow when compressed air is shut off. The nozzles are ideal where no post-spray drip is permissible. When the compressed air supply is shut off, the no-drip nozzle positively seals off the flow of liquid, eliminating the possibility of drips. Effective when using liquids up to 300 cP. VOTE HERE
  3. Electronic Temperature Control for Dual Cabinet Cooler Systems:   The Electronic Temperature Control (ETC) for dual-cabinet cooler systems installed on large or high heat-load enclosures keeps electrical units cool while minimizing compressed air use. Available in cooling capacities up to 5,600 BTU/hr.,  It permits just enough cooling for the electronics without going so cold as to waste compressed air. VOTE HERE
  4. Back Blow Air Nozzle:  These nozzles are designed to effectively blow debris and liquids from pipe or hose inside diameters, channels, bores, holes, internal threads, and other internal part features. An array of holes provides forceful 360-degree airflow to clear out coolant, chips, and light oils from machining processes. This nozzle prevents blowing chips further into a part, tube, or pipe and eliminates any safety hazard created by blowing debris out the far end of a pipe or tube.   VOTE HERE

We appreciate all who are willing to vote for our products and are proud to continue bringing you the best products we can offer. Thank you for the support.

Sincerely,
The EXAIR Team

Product of the Year Award Winner- Long Super Air Knives

20150327_134253
Plant Engineering’s 2014 Product of the Year Award!

Last week, Plant Engineering presented EXAIR’s Long Super Air Knives the Bronze award for Product of the Year in the compressed air category.  In 2014, EXAIR introduced one piece, seamless Long Super Air Knives up to 108″ in length. No other company in the world can provide a one piece compressed air operated air knife over 54″ long. This one piece design allows for minimal footprint for long units, and an unparalleled uniform sheet of laminar air flow.  These long Super Air Knives conserve compressed air over drilled pipes or a manifold of air nozzles. Their compact design excels at large web drying and cleaning operations i.e. paper, rolled steel, aluminum foils, or plastic sheets. Air knives also excel at cooling extrusions, molds, heated rollers, or components. The air knives entrain ambient air at 40:1 ratio (40 parts ambient to 1 part compressed air) which means it moves a tremendous volume of air and delivers it to your target. The Super Air Knives provide all of these benefits quietly and efficiently. The air knife creates only 69 dBA of noise at 80 PSIG of pressure and it would be a great addition in areas where anyone is trying to limit harmful noise exposure to personnel.

These air knives continue EXAIR’s history of pushing the envelope in air knife technology. In 2010, EXAIR introduced the first polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) air knife to the market. The PVDF Super Air Knives provide resistance to UV light, inorganic chemicals, solvents, ozone, weather, fungi, chlorinated hydrocarbons, highly corrosive acids, weak bases and salts while maintaining a quiet operation (69 dBA).  This material change opened EXAIR to a variety of environments that cannot be served by blowers, aluminum, or stainless steel air knives.

Don’t Let Winter Shock You: One Danger to Quality that You Cannot Forget

Winter is coming. The humidity will drop. Electrostatic discharges will rise. We will all be shocked again, and again –  it’s a reality of manufacturing processes in the winter and can cause such a nuisance.

Static Electricity is created by materials such as paper, plastic or textiles rubbing, peeling, or sliding across a surface. Materials normally contain and equal number of positive and negative charges. As the two surfaces come into contact electrons will transfer from one material to another.  If these surfaces are not electrically grounded, they will gather a charge.  For instance, if you rub your sock across the carpeted floor before you reach out and touch your kid sister over the holidays, you may be able to shock her enough to take her eyes off of Instagram.  This is the same phenomenon that you can also see in lightning storms on a meteorological scale.

Electrostatic discharges may only be a nuisance to you and me as we climb in and out of cars, open door knobs, or touch our computers, but for a number of industries the rise in static will make producing quality products in  a timely manner significantly more difficult. Printing, packaging and slitting operations can be stopped or ruined by static. Some of these applications require a very long static eliminators between 60 and 108 inches.

Ion Bar
Two long ion bars remove static from laminated panel.

For wide web applications EXAIR builds Long Ion Bars up to 108″ in length. These bars can clean up printing errors caused by static in large inkjet printers.  They can eliminate static before or after a slitting operation. Also, they can eliminating static before painting or staining.  These bars will be invaluable to the paper, textile, film or plastic industry as winter continues to lower the humidity.

Go Vote For The EXAIR 1104-PEEK!

Plant Engineering Product of the Year Awards

In case you missed our blog on EXAIR having 4 finalists for Product of the Year 2014 from Plant Engineering there is a link here.   Today however, I would like to focus on just one of those products, the Model 1104-PEEK, 3/8″ FNPT Peek Plastic Super Air Nozzle.

The Model 1104-PEEK Super Air Nozzle blows off solar panels during assembly inspection.
The Model 1104-PEEK Super Air Nozzle blows off solar panels during assembly inspection.

The 1104-PEEK is constructed out of PEEK Thermoplastic which is designed to be chemical resistant, non-marring, and carries a high temperature rating.  The chemical resistance of PEEK plastic will help greatly in locations such as plating operations, chemical etching or cleaning metals, painting, or glass etching.  The low friction characteristic of PEEK plastic makes it ideal when trying to blow off delicate surfaces which may be scratched by metallic blow off nozzles such as, painted surfaces, glass, plastics, or even polished metals.  The PEEK thermoplastic is rated for environments up to 320°F (160°C).  This can be ideal for paint or coating curing ovens.   This could also come in handy around the exit of a furnace where there may be caustic fumes mixed with elevated temperatures.

When you combine all of the benefits from PEEK plastic with the engineered solutions from EXAIR, you will get an efficient, safe, engineered solution to your blow off application that will work in a caustic or hot environment, yet not mar a delicate surface.

If you have an 1104-PEEK already in your application, or are using another EXAIR product, please go and vote for us in the Plant Engineering Product of the Year awards.   We greatly appreciate all who are willing to vote for any of our products and are proud to continue bringing you the best products we can offer that fit your every compressed air need.
